SPECIALTY F1 APPLIED MATHEMATICS

The Department of Applied Mathematics of the Faculty of Software Systems and Applied Mathematics trains specialists of all levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD) in the specialty F1 Applied Mathematics.

The content of the activities of such specialists is: 

  • development of mathematical methods and information technologies of machine learning (Machine Learning), intelligent data analysis (Data Mining), computational intelligence (Computational Intelligence), development of mathematical and software tools for processing large amounts of data (Big Data);
  • mathematical modeling and computer simulation of complex systems, processes and phenomena of various natures (mechanical, biological, economic, etc.);
  • developing new or adapting existing mathematical methods and algorithms for analyzing data of various natures.

The object of activity of specialists in APPLIED MATHEMATICS is the development of mathematical methods and models, as well as the design and development of software tools and information technologies for data research, analysis of complex systems, processes and phenomena of various nature.

Bachelor’s studies in the educational program Machine Learning and Mathematical Modeling are focused on:

  • development of new or adaptation of existing mathematical methods and algorithms for data analysis of various natures;
  • identifying dependencies in data using machine and deep learning methods;
  • development of mathematical and software for modeling and computer simulation of complex systems.

are able to perform a wider range of responsibilities and occupy the positions of Data Scientist, Technical Lead and various positions of scientists.

Master’s studies in the educational and scientific program Machine Learning and Mathematical Modeling and the educational and professional program Machine Learning and Mathematical Modeling are focused on: 

  • mastering modern methods of intelligent data analysis, machine learning, mathematical modeling methods and software tools for data storage and processing systems;
  • acquiring skills and abilities to develop decision-making support tools based on knowledge bases in specific problem areas, to apply information technologies in design and management activities;
  • studying professional training disciplines in machine learning, geometric modeling, big data analysis, modeling of biomedical processes, etc., as well as research work on the topic of the master's thesis.

At the Department of Applied Mathematics, postgraduate training is carried out according to the educational program Applied Mathematics together with the Institute of Physics and Technology.

SPECIALTY F2 SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

The Department of Computer Systems Software of the Faculty of Software Systems and Applied Mathematics provides training for specialists of all levels (bachelor, master, PhD) in the specialty F2 SOFTWARE ENGINEERING under the educational program Software Engineering of Multimedia and Information Retrieval Systems.

The content of the activities of specialists in SOFTWARE ENGINEERING under the educational program Software Engineering of Multimedia and Information Retrieval Systems consists in the development of application software for computer systems and networks in the form of:

  • corporate systems,
  • decision support systems,
  • intelligent systems,
  • software products for business,
  • multimedia software,
  • web applications and mobile applications,
  • databases and knowledge,

aimed at solving a wide range of problems, including problems that require modern methods and technologies:

  • information and data transformation and analysis (including ETL technologies, clustering methods, etc.),
  • intelligent information retrieval (Information Retrieval technologies, Data Mining methods),
  • effective storage of data and knowledge (including NoSQL technologies, Data Warehouse, etc.), including large volumes of data (Big Data technologies),
  • optimal data encoding for automated processing (including Data Barcoding technologies),
  • efficient processing of text and multimedia information (including Multimedia and Mulsemedia technologies),
  • effective data protection (including crypto-steganographic protection).

Examples of widely used information search system software are Google search engines (with Google Maps, Google Earth, etc.), Bing, Yahoo, and others.

The object of activity of SOFTWARE ENGINEERING specialists in the educational program Software Engineering of Multimedia and Information Search Systems is computer and information search systems.

The content of the activities of specialists in COMPUTER ENGINEERING under the educational program System Programming and Specialized Computer Systems consists of the creation and maintenance of hardware and software tools of modern and promising information technologies, the development and application of computer systems and components of general and special purpose, their system software, specialized computer systems and networks with optimized parameters, embedded computer systems, technical means of information protection in computer systems, local and distributed computer systems.

The object of activity of COMPUTER ENGINEERING specialists in the educational program Systems Programming and Specialized Computer Systems is the tools (software, hardware, hardware-software) of modern information technologies.
